QA Automation Modernization

A NASDAQ-listed staffing and professional-services firm engaged Taller to modernize its test-automation practice.

The client’s QA-automation estate had accumulated years of inefficiency: slow tests, brittle locators (the fragile references tests use to find elements on a screen), and organizational silos between DevOps, support, and QA automation that the test pipeline alone could not bridge. The real problem was turning testing from a downstream gate into part of the release cadence, a change in method more than in tools.

Taller’s QA-automation team prioritized the test backlog by business value, advised on technology-adoption decisions, and led the migration from Selenium to Playwright (tools for automating browser tests). This kind of migration was not a straight code translation but a change in operating model. Playwright’s automatic waiting, network interception, and test isolation eliminated whole categories of flakiness that Selenium tests tended to accumulate, but capturing that benefit meant rethinking the test design around the new tool’s strengths. The migration also handled the wider estate: C# tests in the legacy environment, mixed Playwright setups across teams, and integration suites that touched external systems, with a phased approach that never stopped the release train.
